No-scoping Tutorial

No-scoping in Dark Souls is a useful tactic for bow users (I do not suggest it for greatbow or crossbow users, considering the greatbow has a bad vertical aiming range when no-scoping, and it just does not work with crossbows).

Attempting to hit a moving target while locked on is unreliable, and the zoom-in feature moves too slow when attempting to adjust your shot. No-scoping allows you to lead your target, as well as make spur of the moment adjustments. Quick-scoping can be useful, but becomes unreliable when zooming in while the target is a short distance away from you.

To aim while no-scoping, first adjust your camera at an angle which allows you to see the target clearly. Then, push the left stick towards the enemy while you continually shoot at the target.

NOTE: If you stop pressing R1/RB, you will cancel your shot and begin to walk forward.

Do not move the left stick unless absolutely necessary (it can be used to make a very quick adjustment, but can throw off your aim if done wrong), keep it in that original position. Instead, adjust the camera using the right stick in order to aim your shot, while keeping the left stick pressed in its original position.

Use missed shots to help judge your aim and zone in on your target.

Practice on enemies regularly so when you do need to use this tactic against another player, you'll be prepared.

Parrying Backstab Fishers

After learning the Counter Parry from Knutaf, i decided to make a tutorial for those who did not know of it. With the help of DreadedCone, i began gathering the footage for the video.

If you have ever dealt with a backstab fisher, you know that if you revolve the opposite way as them, and that pivot occurs, they ALWAYS swing. This is because they believe they are about to land the backstab. Knowing this, you can keep an eye out for this pivot to occur, and parry if it does.

This is risky however, because if you are too close to them then they might actually land the backstab. I suggest using this technique as a last resort, or just be mindful of it in case that pivot occurs by accident.

While gathering footage, i decided to see if rolling, spinning around, and parrying would be effective, and it was. The trick to the Rolling Parry is to roll towards them (as if you are attempting to land on them), unlock as you roll, and then right as your feet plant on the ground you push towards them and hit parry (be mindful of the swing speed of their weapon and adjust accordingly).

The Rolling Parry does work, and i have used it in a few PvP scenarios with backstab fishers. However, it is very hard to get used to, and requires a lot of practice. I suggest practicing spinning around and parrying, because if you roll towards them and don't make that spin before you parry, you're going to get backstabbed.

I do understand that many people will suggest counter backstabbing instead of these techniques, but i, personally, do not believe that this game was intended to consist of 3-4 backstabs per match, nor for players to glitch out for 0 damage repeatedly on each other until someone lands a successful backstab. These techniques are useful alternative methods to the glitchy technique known as counter backstabbing.

I hope this tutorial helps provide some players with new ways to deal with backstab fishers.

Masters Of Parry

I had just logged on, excited about my first match of the day. I expected a quick warmup exercise...instead what i encountered was I800SMD. He was quite the wake-up call.

The next day, we both ended up entering the same tournament, and met in the second round. I was eager to get my revenge for the beating he put on me the day before. Unfortunately for me, he had other plans. He proceeded to knock me out of the tournament.

Afterwards, we ended up meeting in the Undead Burg, where i managed to break out of my slump and even up the score. He mentioned that we were all tied up. I asked if he'd like to consider all of our encounters a Best 4 Out Of 7 duel, and this last one the tie breaker. He agreed.

Near the end of our duels things got really interesting due to the fact we were both reading each other perfectly, and both adapting to throw the other off so as not to be parried. This was the most intense dueling i have encountered so far.

My Current Status

Offline.

Welcome To My Nightmare

This was the most jaw-dropping, and terrifying, experience i have had in Dark Souls so far. I'm not exaggerating when i say that my jaw literally dropped open after the first death...i could not believe what had just happened. I'm typing a message, then i hear footsteps, and i quickly realize i'm completely surrounded. You can literally see my fear by the way i move the camera at 2:20...i was in complete awe.

Everyone who knows me knows that i am horrible at PvE. So, having something of this magnitude occur in my game (not to mention with over 50 million souls on the line) was enough to make me want to curl up in a ball and cry. If a zombie wielding a torch can beat me alone, then a massive gank squad of NG++++ (not sure if NG determines their strength) Black Phantom Stone Giants is far beyond overkill.

You cannot begin to understand how excited i was to find his Gravelord Sign. I wanted revenge, and i wanted it bad. During the fight with him i could hardly focus, i just wanted him dead, lol. I may not be able to kill his towering minions, but i can go to the source and kill their leader.

Now, the fact that this was not my only successful Gravelord Servant encounter of the night (it was my first, though) leads me to believe that the patch i received to my game yesterday has finally fixed the Gravelord Covenant. I've tried looking up info on this random, quick patch i received, but could not find anything official. However, considering how well the Gravelord Covenant was working tonight, i think i can say it has been fixed entirely.

Secret Armor?

The YouTube user nickybenza talks about how a random invader gave him the Elite Cleric armor set, which is either armor that is extremely rare to obtain, or armor that was originally removed from the game all together.

This invader was one of two things: a modder/hacker who was able to dig through the coding and obtain the armor, or a From Software affiliate. I personally hope it was the latter.
